Traffic in the protected area
In protected areas there may be special rules for how you can travel and use nature. Maybe your favorite hike passes through a protected area?

What applies where you go for a walk?
Find your protected area on a map or search for the rules in the conservation regulations that apply to a specific protected area (at Lovdata).
The authorities that manage the various protected areas also have an overview of what applies in their area . The largest protected areas and national parks often have their own websites, which you can find by going to norgesnasjonalparker.no .

Important in Utladalen
In the Utladalen landscape conservation area and in Jotunheimen Drones are banned in the national park. The reason is that drones can disturb wildlife, especially birds.
In Årdal municipality, the leash requirement for dogs has been extended from April 30 to November 1. The extension applies to both grazing animals and game.
Cycling in the conservation area is otherwise legal on established roads and paths, and as long as you are considerate of pedestrians, you can cycle on the road in the Utladalen landscape conservation area. The exception here is electric bicycles, which are prohibited because they are considered motorized traffic.

This also applies
Here we have looked at rules that are specific to our protected areas. The rules in protected areas can vary from area to area. It is therefore important to familiarize yourself with what applies exactly where you are going.
In all open space, the right of way and the rules of the Outdoor Activities Act also apply.
The right of way is a free common good that is part of our cultural heritage. It gives everyone the right to freely travel and stay in the countryside in Norway. We can harvest from nature – saltwater fish, berries, mushrooms and flowers.
