Visit Utladalen National Park Center

Since 1997, the Foundation has Utladalen Naturhus carried out both restoration and maintenance of the cultural landscape in Utladalen on behalf of the Norwegian Nature Conservation Agency. The area of responsibility includes the entire Utladalen valley as well as Vormelid in the upper Utladalen valley.

The maintenance work is carried out according to a maintenance plan, to preserve the cultural landscape and ensure biological diversity. Our seasonal workers are happy to talk about the work they do if you see them out in the field, so please contact us if you have any questions.

We have regular outreach programs aimed at children and young people, but we can also tailor programs for groups of visitors, and organize private events with catering outside of opening hours.

Our skilled employees are mediators with a lot of knowledge, and typical topics can be nature and culture in Utladalen and Jotunheimen , folk poetry in Årdal, forest legends, flora and fauna from the Sognefjord to the Alps Jotunheimen , insects in the hay meadow and management of the cultural landscape, to name a few.

Utladalen Naturhus has hosted several different events on behalf of the local community in Årdal. We are happy to collaborate with other local teams and organizations. For larger events we have a dedicated volunteer team who are happy to help.

If you would like to rent our space for your own event, please contact us for arrangements. We are happy to help with both planning and implementation by arrangement with you as a guest.

The main building, which functions as a summer café, accommodates 15-20 people, while our showroom can accommodate more, but this requires more preparation.

We will offer guided tours in Utladalen for groups upon request. Examples of tours:

- Avdalsskåri to Avdal farm (3 hours return)

- To the foot of Vettisfossen waterfall (4 hours round trip)

- To the top of Vettisfossen waterfall (6 hours round trip)

All tours include storytelling and information related to culture and nature.
