City: Jotunheimen and Utladalen (Utladalen National Park Center) with Rigmor Solem as a guest

From podcast host Randulf Valle:

"We have a number of fantastic natural areas in Norway, and quite a few people spend their working days there as supervisors or in management tasks. It may seem like a dream job, but at the same time, it is these people who first notice conflicts and issues affecting Norwegian nature. That is why the Podcast Uteliv has decided to talk to these people to get a picture of their everyday lives and the state of Norwegian nature. What is the situation in our protected areas? What do the managers experience as conflict areas? What changes are happening to nature? Is the way we use it changing? And do we have the legal, practical and financial resources needed for proper management?

On Monday, April 27, podcast host Randulf Valle brings his recording equipment to Utladalen Naturhus to talk to Rigmor Solem about how she has experienced almost four decades as a supervisor in Jotunheimen and Utladalen. You can take a seat in the audience.

Uteliv is an independent podcast about nature and outdoor life run by Randulf Valle. Uteliv has passed 300 episodes and is approaching two million plays and has had visitors from profiles such as Anne Lindmo, Børge Ousland, Jens Kvernmo, Kristin Harila, Nils Faarlund, Stein P Aasheim and many more.

A little about interview subject Rigmor Solem:

Rigmor Solem is from Nordmøre, but has worked in Statens naturoppsyn with a catchment area in Utladalen and Jotunheimen for half a lifetime. She greatly appreciated the nature here, and helped start the Foundation Utladalen Naturhus (now Utladalen National Park Center) to communicate about the nature and cultural history here. She has been a driving force for the restoration of both valuable nature, cultural landscapes and old listed buildings in the area, and in recent years has been publicly involved in debates about, among other things, better protection of wild reindeer. Few people know Jotunheimen and Utladalen better than Rigmor, and few people have more stories to tell about the valley we love so much, about powerful nature experiences, fun encounters with people and fantastic encounters with the many different animals that live here.

Sound equipment sponsored by HUGIN MUSIC FORUM.
